Well, the decision has been made and the kids have been told. The Kane family is leaving the small town of Brookline, NH for the big (and crowded) city of Bangalore, India.
The kids were not thrilled with the news. I heard things like, "My world is over!" "This had better be a cruel joke." "I am not going!" But they are coming around and I think they are looking forward to the adventure. Jameson, 12, is terrified of middle school in another country. I can't blame him. Middle school sucks! It must really suck when you have to start all over with new kids, new teachers, new customs and a new country. Mike, 9, is going into 4th grade and he seems to adjust well to new situations wherever he goes so I am hoping that is the case when he gets to Bangalore.
I am excited for the learning experience - meeting new people, traveling to new places. I am not looking forward to everything that needs to be done over the next two months to get ready. Hopefully I'll find the time to blog about the experience and keep you all up to date on our trials and tribulations.
